I recently rented a house but was short on funds. My real estate agent and a roommate helped out with the deposit. They later demanded repayment, including a one-month commission, which I paid. We subsequently moved out, but the agent now wants additional rent as commission. He pressured me into writing a cheque, which bounced, and I stopped the payment. Now he’s threatening to share my photo with the police and media. What’s the best course of action in this situation?

You should consult a lawyer immediately. The agent’s demand for additional rent as commission and threatening to share your photo with the police and media are unlawful. You can file a complaint with the police against the agent for extortion and harassment. Additionally, you should consider filing a civil suit to recover the commission you already paid unlawfully.
