My father served in the Indian Army for 17 years, enlisting as a Sepoy in the Dogra Regiment in 1968 and later being commissioned in 1977. He was medically discharged in 1986 with a low medical category and was denied pension. He was also not given a Release Medical Board (RM which was mandatory at the time. Shouldn’t he be eligible for disability pension? He was removed from service due to allegations of multiple marriages. Can someone help us understand this situation?

Your father’s medical discharge and denial of pension due to low medical category should be reviewed under the applicable pension rules at the time of his discharge. The lack of a Release Medical Board, which was mandatory, raises concerns about the fairness of the medical discharge. However, his removal from service due to alleged multiple marriages might have impacted his pension eligibility, as disciplinary actions can affect pension benefits. It is advisable to seek legal counsel from a lawyer specializing in military pensions and discharge issues to understand your father’s specific situation and potential recourse.
