I was serving in the Indian Air Force as an airman. I refused my attestation and applied for discharge, but the service dismissed me instead. They gave me a “Fit for Civil Service” certificate. I refused attestation because I wasn’t allowed to continue my studies after training. The command sent a letter to the unit stating no service personnel can study for five years after training. Can I file a case against the IAF demanding my discharge and the right to study, especially since this restriction wasn’t mentioned during recruitment?

You might have grounds for a legal case. Refusal to attest based on misrepresented recruitment conditions and the subsequent dismissal instead of discharge could be challenged. The IAF’s restriction on studies, not communicated during recruitment, might also be considered a violation of your rights.
