How To Apply For A Voter’s ID

Here is how to apply for a Voter’s ID card in India, follow these steps:

Online application

  1. Visit the National Voter’s Service Portal (NVSP): Go to the official website.
  2. Click on the ‘Sign-Up’ option, enter your mobile number, email ID, and captcha code. Follow the prompts to create an account.
  3. Use your credentials to log into the portal.
  4. Click on ‘Fill Form 6’ for new voter registration. Provide personal details, including your name, address, and date of birth. 
  5. Attach necessary documents such as proof of identity (Aadhaar, PAN), proof of address, and a passport-sized photograph.
  6. Check all entered details for accuracy and submit the form.
  7. Use the ‘Track Application Status’ option on the portal with your reference number to monitor your application.

Offline Application

  1. Visit the nearest Election Office or download Form 6 from the NVSP website.
  2. Complete the form with the required details.
  3.  Along with the filled form, submit necessary documents and a passport-sized photograph at the Election Office.
  4. Obtain an acknowledgment slip with a reference number for tracking.
