We’ve been married for three years, but haven’t been able to start a family yet. My wife works in Abu Dhabi, while I was working in Dubai until last year, when I had to return to India due to unforeseen circumstances. Sadly, I’m unemployed now and we’ve been living apart for the past year because her work contract and UAE law don’t allow us to live together. This distance has put a lot of strain on our relationship, and she’s now sent me a legal notice for divorce on mutual grounds. It feels like I’m being taken for granted and pushed into divorce. Is there anything I can do legally, and is there such a thing as a one-sided divorce in India?

While suspicion alone isn’t grounds for divorce in India, evidence of adultery or cruelty could be. You would need to gather proof of his affair, such as phone records, messages, or witness testimonies. A lawyer can help you determine the best course of action and gather the necessary evidence.
