I got a late-night call from an unknown number in December 2016. The caller claimed to be a police officer and said there was a complaint against my number. He threatened me and asked me to meet him 8 kilometers away from where I was. I’m certain he wasn’t a real police officer. Now, I want to file a complaint against him. Is there a time limit for filing such complaints? Are there any specific rules I need to know about? I’m also facing a false accusation in another case that might take some time to clear. Can I still file a complaint against this unknown caller after a few months?

Accessing your emails without permission is illegal in India under the Information Technology Act, 2000. While you may be able to seek a court order for data removal, it is unlikely given your own actions. Creating a fake Facebook account to contact your wife can be considered harassment, which could lead to legal repercussions if she takes action.
