My grandfather owned a shop, but sadly passed away without leaving a will. He had my father listed as the nominee. I’m wondering, will the shop go to my father, my grandmother, or both?

Under Indian law, in the absence of a will, the shop will be divided among legal heirs as per the Hindu Succession Act, 1956. Your father, as the nominee, will only receive the bank account funds associated with the shop, not the shop itself. Your grandmother will also be a legal heir and inherit a share of the shop along with other potential heirs.
