My father-in-law passed away in 2013, leaving behind land and other assets. We’re unsure if he left a will. Some of the land is involved in legal disputes. He had two older sons and three younger daughters. Since his passing, the sons have been selling property and using other resources, enjoying their lives. It’s been three years, and the daughters haven’t received anything. My mother-in-law lives in one of the properties with a son and his wife. What legal options do the daughters have?

The daughters can initiate legal proceedings to claim their share of the inheritance. They can file a suit for partition of the property and seek a declaration that they are entitled to their rightful share. They can also seek an injunction against the sons to prevent further sale or disposal of the property.
