My wife passed away in December 2014, leaving behind our 4-year-old daughter, whom I am raising. I understand that my daughter has a right to her maternal grandparents’ property. I’d like to explore claiming this inheritance. It’s important to note that my wife was living with her parents for the last few months before her passing. She became ill and they did not provide her with adequate care. She fell into a coma and passed away, without them informing me about her condition. Can I issue a legal notice to claim compensation for this negligence? I am a Muslim and follow Islamic principles.

As a Muslim, you can seek compensation from your wife’s parents under Islamic law for their negligence in caring for her. Under Indian law, your daughter has the right to inherit her maternal grandparents’ property, but the negligence claim is separate and would be pursued based on the specifics of the situation.
