In addition to MACT, you can claim compensation from the owner of the truck under the Motor Vehicles Act. The lawyer is likely referring to the Delhi Government’s ‘Sarathi’ scheme, which provides compensation for hit-and-run victims. Your motorcycle insurance claim can be filed with your insurer, but you’ll need to lodge a police report. The deadline to file a claim in MACT is generally 2 years from the date of the accident.
