I had an accident back in 2012 and the lower court awarded me ₹5 lakhs in compensation. I appealed to the High Court with a different lawyer and they added another ₹80,000 to the compensation. The cheque is now with the lower court, but they’re asking me to bring my original lawyer to identify me before they release the cheque. Unfortunately, I can’t find that lawyer now. Is there any way I can get the cheque from the court?

Yes, you can approach the lower court with an affidavit stating you cannot find your original lawyer. You can also provide proof of your identity, such as a passport or voter ID, along with the High Court order. The court can then release the cheque based on this documentation.
