I bought a used car from someone. It’s registered in another person’s name. I got into an accident and the police took the car. After the case closed, the court ordered the car to be released to me. But the police gave it back to the original owner. He said I can have it once I register it in my name, but he’s not giving me the needed papers. Now he’s ignoring me and the police say it’s not their problem. What can I do?

The police are incorrect. The court order releasing the car to you is binding. You should file a contempt of court case against the original owner and the police for not complying with the court order. Additionally, you should contact the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to register the car in your name and obtain the necessary documents from the original owner.
