Four months ago, a woman bumped into my brother-in-law’s bike, which is registered in my name. Her husband, an auto-rickshaw driver, arrived and took the bike keys, insisting my brother-in-law take her to the hospital. Feeling pressured, he did so. Five days later, the auto-rickshaw driver returned demanding 2 lakhs for the woman’s treatment. We refused, suggesting they approach the police if they wished to pursue the matter. Now, they’ve filed a complaint and the police, without any proper investigation, seem to be siding with them. What can I do?
Best Answer
You can file a counter-complaint against the auto-rickshaw driver for extortion and harassment. Additionally, you can challenge the police’s bias by filing a complaint with the Superintendent of Police or the Human Rights Commission, highlighting the lack of investigation and undue pressure exerted on your brother-in-law.
