My shop in India was rented out in 2014 without a formal agreement. Now, the tenant is refusing to leave. What can I do to get them out, even without a rental agreement? Do I have to go to court to get them evicted?

Under Indian law, even without a formal agreement, a tenancy can be presumed if rent was paid and accepted. You can issue a legal notice to vacate and if they still refuse, you’ll have to file an eviction suit in court.
