My landlord wants to increase the rent after just one year of our three-year lease, citing a rise in market rates. The agreement has a two-month notice period for either party. Can he legally ask me to vacate based on the market rate increase?

Under Indian law, your landlord cannot legally ask you to vacate solely based on a market rate increase. The lease agreement dictates the rent for the duration of the lease. However, your landlord can propose a revised rent for the next term after the current lease expires.
