My landlord keeps making excuses and delaying returning my security deposit. I gave him proper notice, letting him know I needed the deposit before moving out. I found a new place and had to leave, but now he’s saying he needs more time. He’s locked the house and lives in the UK, so I can’t meet with him. He only responds to my calls and emails when he wants to, and doesn’t give any clear answers. What can I do?

You can file a legal complaint with the Consumer Forum or a civil court to recover your security deposit. You can also send a legal notice through a lawyer demanding the return of the deposit within a specified time. If the landlord continues to delay, you can pursue legal action to recover your deposit, including potential penalties and legal fees.
