My landlord and I have been clashing over my caring for stray animals. We had a disagreement about feeding dogs, and now he wants us to leave. He claims he needs the house for personal use, but I believe it’s retaliation for the disagreement. I’m really upset and hurt by this, especially since I have to pay for the painting even though I haven’t lived here for a year. Is there any way I can challenge this? It feels unfair to pay when he’s using legal points to justify his actions and we’ve faced similar issues with previous landlords. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of.

Indian law allows landlords to evict tenants for personal use, even if it appears retaliatory. You can challenge this by proving the eviction is indeed retaliatory, but this requires strong evidence. Additionally, you may be able to negotiate with your landlord regarding the painting charges.
