My family owns a property in Rajasthan. We rented out the first floor a while back, but now the tenants refuse to leave. There wasn’t a formal rent agreement. What legal options do we have to get them to vacate?

In India, even without a formal rent agreement, the landlord has the legal right to recover possession of the property. You can file a legal notice to vacate under the Rajasthan Rent Control Act, 1954, and if they don’t comply, file an eviction suit in the appropriate court.
