I’ve been living in this single-room house with a kitchen and independent roof for the past 30 years. My husband passed away in 2013, and since then, I’ve lived here alone. The landlord hasn’t collected rent from me for the past two years. Now, he’s sold the house to someone else, and this new owner is threatening to build a new floor and block access to my roof. I’m willing to buy the house, but the old landlord already sold it. What should I do now?

Based on Indian law, your long-term occupation and lack of rent payment for two years could indicate a tenancy by adverse possession. However, this needs to be legally established. Consult a lawyer to explore your rights and options, including negotiating with the new owner or pursuing legal action to claim ownership.
