Yes, you can involve a lawyer. Under Indian law, the landlord has a legal obligation to provide a habitable property. You can send a legal notice demanding repairs within a reasonable time frame. If the landlord fails to comply, you can file a case in the consumer court or civil court seeking repairs, compensation for your expenses, and rent reduction.
