I moved from Chennai to Indirapuram, Ghaziabad in July 2015. My landlord in Chennai received my notice to vacate in March 2015, and I moved out on June 30th. She only returned ₹4,500 of my deposit, claiming I only paid ₹30,000 as advance, not the ₹40,000 stated in the agreement. I sent her a copy of the agreement as proof, but she won’t respond or talk. Now that I’m in Ghaziabad, can I take any legal action from here? If so, how?

Yes, you can file a legal case against your former Chennai landlord in Ghaziabad. You can file a civil suit in the Small Causes Court in Ghaziabad, seeking the remaining deposit amount and any applicable interest. The court will require you to serve her with the notice, and you may have to travel to Chennai for hearings if required.
