Namaste. I’m a doctor, having completed my MS degree a year ago. I’m looking for a hospital with good surgical exposure to enhance my skills. However, the salary offered is significantly lower than what’s standard (around ₹18,000 per month). Despite this, they’re asking for a two-year commitment. We’ve decided to use an affidavit for this contract, but they’re refusing any bond or notice period. Will this affidavit legally bind me if I resign after a year?

Under Indian law, an affidavit can bind you legally, but the enforceability of such a commitment depends on the specific terms and circumstances. While a bond or notice period is not mandatory, the court may consider the significantly lower salary and the two-year commitment in determining if the contract is fair and reasonable.
