My salary hasn’t been paid for the last 3 months (June-August). The CEO hasn’t been seen in the office and isn’t picking up calls or messages. His father, who’s a director, keeps saying he’s arranging the money, but they’ve been making promises for 2 months. What legal options do we have and how much would it cost?

You can file a complaint with the Labour Commissioner under the Payment of Wages Act, 1936. This allows for recovery of your unpaid salary, plus compensation and legal expenses. The cost depends on the lawyer you choose and the complexity of the case, but it typically ranges from a few thousand rupees upwards.
