My friends and I are employees at a five-star hotel in Goa that abruptly shut down on April 1st without any notice or explanation. We’ve been coming to the property every day, only to leave disappointed. The company, a limited entity with two hotels and six directors, seems to be facing a dispute between five directors and one. We, the employees, with some having over 20 years of service, are caught in the middle. The company refuses to discuss the situation. What can we do to protect our jobs and get some answers?

As employees, you have rights under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, and can file a complaint with the Labor Commissioner in Goa for non-payment of wages and unfair termination. You can also approach the Industrial Tribunal for redressal, seeking reinstatement, back wages, and clarity on the company’s situation.
