My father, a respected CBCE Inspector, passed away in 2011 due to cancer. Our family struggles financially, with only my mother’s pension and my brother’s education expenses. The department denied me a job because my father’s PPF account had a balance exceeding 4 lakhs. Is it possible to challenge this decision legally?

Yes, you may be able to legally challenge the department’s decision. Under Indian law, the existence of a PPF account exceeding a certain amount is not a valid reason to deny employment, especially if it belonged to a deceased family member. You can file a writ petition in the High Court challenging this decision.
