I’ve been working at a private IT company in Bangalore for the past 8 months. When I joined, I had 5 other job offers, but I chose this one because it’s a product-based company and I thought I’d be secure for at least 3 years. Now, after 8 months, they’re telling me the company is doing well financially and I need to leave within a month! It’s incredibly tough to find a new job in such a short time, especially with my wedding coming up next month. I’m feeling very stressed and lost. What does Indian law say about compensation for being fired in this situation? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Indian law does not mandate compensation for termination within the first year of employment, even if the company is performing well. You are entitled to the salary for the remaining period of your notice period. Consult with an employment lawyer to understand your rights and options, especially regarding the impact of your upcoming wedding.
