I’ve been invited for a government job interview, but they need a character certificate from my previous college. The college is giving me the runaround – they say to go to the department head, who says to see my thesis advisor, but my advisor isn’t signing the application. Now the department head won’t give me the certificate either. I’ve already finished my postgraduate degree from there. Could I possibly submit the certificate after the interview? They’ve said I need all documents to be allowed into the interview. Any advice on how to get some extra time to get this sorted out?

It’s unlikely you can be allowed into the interview without the certificate, as they’ve stated it’s a requirement. Contact the government job interview organizer directly and explain the situation. Politely request a short extension to obtain the certificate, emphasizing your commitment to the position. If possible, provide documentation of your attempts to get the certificate.
