I’m working in a hospital in Navi Mumbai. My appointment letter mentions a one-month salary deposit that won’t be refunded. It also says (in a separate circular dated 10/10/2016) that I need to pay an extra month’s salary or have it deducted from my salary. Plus, they won’t give me an experience letter if I resign with 24-hour notice. Is this legally sound? Could you explain in detail?

The one-month salary deposit and the additional month’s salary requirement are likely illegal under Indian law. The hospital cannot withhold your experience letter for giving 24-hour notice unless it’s explicitly mentioned in your employment contract or you have signed an agreement with a bond period.
