I’m facing a situation where I need to leave my current job, but I’m not able to serve the full notice period. My company is asking for 2 months of basic salary instead. Can they take any legal action against me? If so, what kind of action can they take?

Yes, your company can take legal action for not serving the full notice period. They can file a civil suit for breach of contract and seek damages equivalent to the salary for the unserved notice period, which could be a maximum of 2 months’ basic salary in your case.
