Based on Indian law and the reservation policy, the institute’s decision to deny you the open post solely based on your ESBC category is likely unjustified. You are eligible to be considered for the open post based on your merit rank, irrespective of your category. You can contest this decision by appealing to the relevant authorities or pursuing legal action.
