I was working in the Coke Oven department at Durgapur Steel Plant. A company notice invited employees to apply for positions in the Medium Structure Mill (MSM) or Bloom Cum Round Caster (BRC). I was chosen for BRC after an interview. Now, management says BRC is part of the existing Continuous Casting Plant (CCP) department, making it the fourth machine in that section. MSM, however, is a completely new department. They’re refusing to give BRC the same status as MSM, even though my release order clearly states it’s for BRC. Despite this, I haven’t received a joining report, even though my joining date was February 11, 2015. What should I do?

Based on the release order and your interview selection for BRC, you have a strong claim to be considered for a new department position. Contact the company’s human resources department and reiterate your selection for BRC, highlighting the inconsistencies in their current stance. If necessary, you can consult with a labor lawyer to explore legal options like a grievance or a writ petition.
