I was a manager at a company until December 2015. The company asked me to resign as they couldn’t afford my salary. I resigned in November 2015 and completed my two-month notice period. However, in late November, HR emailed me saying I didn’t need to work in December and they’d pay my November and December salary as part of my final settlement. They paid half my November salary when I asked. Now they’re saying they’ll only pay my December basic salary because I didn’t work that month and won’t pay the other components. What should I do?

Based on your situation, you have grounds to pursue the remaining salary components for December. You were instructed not to work in December and were assured of receiving full salary. This constitutes an implicit agreement for payment even in the absence of work. You should send a legal notice demanding the outstanding amount.
