I joined a software company in Ahmedabad as a Software Engineer in January 2016. My two-year contract started on my joining date. I had to leave Ahmedabad for personal reasons and broke the agreement. Now, my former company is asking me to pay a bond amount of ₹45,000. What are my options?

Indian law allows for breach of contract penalties, but only if the terms are reasonable and the company suffered demonstrable loss due to your departure. You can try negotiating a reduced amount or even challenge the penalty in court, arguing that the amount is excessive or that your personal reasons justify the breach.
