As a qualified guest teacher working with the Haryana government’s primary education department since November 2007, I’ve cleared HTET, CTET, and STET, and was appointed through the proper process. However, my salary remains a meager 19,000 rupees. Considering the “Equal pay for equal work” principle, can I also claim a permanent position, having served for nearly a decade? Especially when less qualified permanent employees earn over double my salary?

While the “Equal pay for equal work” principle applies in India, it doesn’t automatically guarantee a permanent position. Your long service and qualifications, combined with the discrepancy in pay, can be strong arguments for demanding a permanent post. You should consult a lawyer specializing in labor law to understand your legal options and proceed accordingly.
