My mother passed away shortly after taking out an LIC life insurance policy, and I, as the nominee, filed a claim. However, the company rejected it, claiming she withheld information about her health. They said they wouldn’t have issued the policy if they had known her true condition. Although they conducted their own checks before approving the policy, the ombudsman also rejected my appeal. What steps can I take to challenge this decision?

You can approach the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to file an appeal against the ombudsman’s decision. You can also file a civil lawsuit in a competent court, seeking a declaration that the rejection of your claim is invalid and an order for the insurance company to pay the claim amount.
