I recently bought a used Hyundai i20 and got the ownership transferred to my name on the 15th. Unfortunately, the car met with an accident, hitting a pillar. Now, the insurance company is refusing my claim, saying the policy is still under the previous owner’s name. What can I do?

You should immediately inform the insurance company about the change of ownership and provide them with the updated registration certificate. As per Indian law, the insurance policy automatically transfers to the new owner upon the change of ownership, even if the company hasn’t been notified. You can then file a claim for the accident.
