My husband and I are both 45 years old. He’s Indian, and I’m an Indian-American citizen. He has a daughter in India who’s 18 years old. I can only sponsor my husband for a Green Card. Once he gets it, he can sponsor his daughter, but she’ll be over 21 by then. If she’s married in India, how long would it usually take for her Green Card application to be processed? Also, how long does it typically take for an Indian child to receive a Green Card application after their Green Card-holding father files for them?

Under US immigration law, a married child over 21 years old can only be sponsored by their parent if they are unmarried at the time of the petition. Since your husband’s daughter will be married, she cannot be sponsored by him. The timeframe for processing a Green Card application for an unmarried child under 21 sponsored by their Green Card-holding parent can vary significantly, but it typically takes several years.
