My husband and I met online, he proposed and I said yes. He asked for money before our marriage, which I gave him. Right after the wedding, he became emotionally distant, saying he was trapped financially. I took out a loan from my parents, but it wasn’t enough, so I gave him all the jewelry from his family. He even took out a loan against that, but never showed me any paperwork. Now, he refuses to repay the loans, won’t give back the jewelry, and doesn’t take financial responsibility for me or our child. My parents are helping us. He recently moved without telling me and sent my belongings to his hometown, preventing me from going with him. I belong to a Scheduled Tribe community.

You can seek legal advice and support from a lawyer, who can help you file for divorce, recover your finances, and protect your rights.
