My grandfather had three children: my father, my aunt, and my uncle. My father passed away seven years ago. After that, my grandfather divided his property into three parts – one for my brother, one for my uncle, and one for my grandmother. Now, my grandfather passed away six years ago. My grandmother wants to give her property to her daughter, who is married. Is this legal? Does she have the right to her father’s property after his death? Please advise what legal action we can take as this property is a major source of our income.

Under Indian law, your grandmother has the right to inherit her husband’s property, and she can choose to bequeath it to her daughter upon her death. However, you and your brother may have a claim to the property as your father’s legal heirs, which can be contested in court.
