In India, a legal heir can gift their share of inherited property without the consent of other heirs. As your mother-in-law is a legal heir, she can gift her share to your wife. However, registering the gift deed without the son’s knowledge could lead to future complications. You should consult a lawyer to understand the legal implications and proceed accordingly.
