My family is Hindu, and we have two daughters and an older son. I’m the younger daughter, and both of us were unmarried. Sadly, our brother passed away in the 1980s, and his wife followed in 2010. He left behind four children. All the property (house and land) is registered in my elder sister’s name. She also passed away in the 1990s, and as her sister, I believe I’m entitled to the property. However, my nephews are now claiming a share. Do they have any legal right to the property?

Under Indian law, your nephews have a legal right to inherit the property. As your brother’s children, they are his legal heirs and are entitled to a share of his property, even though it was registered in your sister’s name. Your sister’s death doesn’t affect their inheritance rights.
