I’m a 24-year-old woman working in a big company. My parents are putting a lot of pressure on me, taking my salary and important documents. They even forced me to file a case against someone I loved. The police have been very harsh with me. If I disappear and am found, can I tell the police I don’t want to live with my parents anymore? Will they support me? If not, what should I do? I am Hindu.

Indian law recognizes your right to live independently. You can inform the police you don’t wish to live with your parents and seek their protection. However, they might not immediately support you if you are deemed capable of living independently. It’s recommended to seek legal counsel for advice and assistance in protecting your rights and making appropriate arrangements.
