After our parents passed away, my brother and I took over our family business. We used to live together in a Cantonment bungalow, leased from MES. Later, my brother started a new business and made me a 30% partner, giving his son 30% and himself 40%. But I was only a namesake partner with no actual share. We eventually separated due to disagreements, but I continued the original family business while he ran his own. I didn’t take anything when we split, not even a rupee. The shop is still registered in both our names. Now, I want to know if I can legally get the shop registered solely under my name.

You can’t simply register the shop solely in your name without your brother’s consent. Since the shop is registered in both your names, you’ll need to either reach a mutual agreement with your brother about transferring ownership or pursue legal options like a partition suit to divide the property.
