Namaste Sir, my name is Gurupada Shrinivasa Bhat. On documents like my Aadhaar card, it’s spelled “Gurupada Shrinivasa Bhat”. However, in my educational documents, it’s “Gurupada Srinivasa Bhatta”. I’d like to use “Gurupad Bhat” instead. Since I’m just shortening my name, not changing it completely, could you please advise on the best way to do this? Thank you for your help.

You can use “Gurupad Bhat” as a short form of your name without any formal legal process. However, for official purposes, it’s advisable to use the name as it appears on your Aadhaar card, which is considered your primary identity document in India.
