My family has lived in Punjab for over 50 years, and we belong to the OBC category. We’ve never claimed any caste benefits before, but now I’m looking to get an OBC certificate. We own agricultural land in Himachal Pradesh, where our family’s OBC caste is recorded in the land records.
I’m applying for a government job in Punjab. I have a few questions:
1. If I get the certificate in Himachal Pradesh, based on our land there, will it be accepted for the government job in Punjab?
2. We only have a residential house in Punjab, no other land.

While your family’s OBC status is recorded in Himachal Pradesh land records, it’s not automatically transferable for benefits in Punjab. You’ll need to apply for a fresh OBC certificate in Punjab based on your current residence and family history. Owning agricultural land in Himachal Pradesh is not a guarantee of OBC status in Punjab.
