I’m planning to start an Uber business in Mumbai. However, the MCGM office says I need a registered car with a tourist permit to get a license. They’re saying this is a requirement, but an agent seems to be getting it done without owning a car. Is there really a rule about car ownership? How can an agent manage this? Thanks for the help!

While the MCGM might require a tourist permit for your Uber business, there’s no legal requirement in India that you personally own the car. The agent likely has a network of car owners with tourist permits willing to lease their vehicles for commercial use, allowing them to facilitate the process without directly owning a car.
