I bought a flat from Mr. B, who bought it from Mr. A 18 years ago. Now, the bank is refusing to give me my home loan because they want the original deed between the builder and Mr. A, which Mr. B doesn’t have. Is this fair? If not, how can I get them to release the loan?

The bank’s demand for the original deed between the builder and Mr. A is unreasonable. Under Indian law, a chain of title is established through registered deeds, and the deed between Mr. B and you is sufficient for proving ownership. You can request the bank to review the chain of title and consider your loan application based on the available documents. If they refuse, you can consider approaching the banking ombudsman or a legal professional for assistance.
