I applied for a passport in Kolkata three years ago. Six months ago, I inquired about its status and was told it was closed because I wasn’t at the given address for verification. Now I’m in Mumbai and want to apply for a new passport, but I’ve forgotten my old file number. The application form has a space for this, but I don’t know what to do. Can I apply without providing the previous file number? Would that be hiding information? I need some advice on how to proceed.
