Dear Sir,
My father, a Muslim, recently passed away, leaving behind a property in Bangalore. He has a wife, three sons, and four daughters as legal heirs. They have appointed one son as Power of Attorney to manage the property.
Can you please advise if the property’s khata should be transferred to all legal heirs or only to the Power of Attorney? What is the procedure involved?
Thank you,
Mushthaque

Under Indian law, the property’s khata should be transferred to all legal heirs, not just the Power of Attorney. The legal heirs will need to apply to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for khata transfer, submitting necessary documents like the death certificate, succession certificate, and property documents.
