In India, divorce can be obtained through either mutual consent or contested proceedings. Mutual consent requires both parties’ agreement and court approval after a mandatory six-month cooling-off period. Contested divorces involve proving grounds like cruelty, adultery, or desertion, requiring evidence and court proceedings.
